Here is what we can do 🌿
You can contribute by supporting projects which reduce carbon emissions with reforestation or renewable energy.
If we fill the bath only modestly, we can approximately half our footprint. Save the planet and time at the same time.
Since the heating of water is the driver for CO2e emissions, switching to to solar heated water can reduce or even erase any emissions.
If you share the bath with someone else you can reduce the footprint by 50%. 😉
However, in order to actually save water you have to take 5min showers (or less). By using a low-flow head allow yourself up to 10min under the shower while "power shower head" could actually result in using more water.
There are many great natural soap bars that help to reduce plastic waste that often comes with buying liquid soap and shower gel.
You can make your own eco-friendly zero-waste soup yourself. Buy pre-made soup base, cut it into cubes, melt them in a microwave, add essential oils for the smell, mix it and have it rest in a mood for 48h.
The easiest way to do this is to install a tank below the gutter. A more sophisticated system: an underground water tank. This can be also used to water your plants or other household purposes.
An additional and easy tip that save you money and has a lot of impact at the same top: Turn off the water tap while brushing your teeth.
An additional tip to reduce your water impact is to place a full water bottle, a brick or anything else that takes up some space into your toilet water tank. This will lead to less water usage when you flush.
For just a few dollars, you can wrap your water heater in a heat blanket, saving cash and reducing carbon emissions.
